I am a painter living in Alaska. My work explores how objects, thoughts, places, and times connect. Typically, my paintings start with underlining an idea in a book I’m reading, often one focused on physics. Then, as I go about my day to day, I keep an eye out for visual ways to explore that idea further. I love this cycle of reading, moving through the world, noticing, and painting. My paintings are representational, but I enjoy playing with composition and color to introduce slight abstraction.

I work primarily in oils, but you’ll always find me experimenting with new mediums — whether it’s printmaking, quilting, or woodworking, I love the feeling of making a thing in the world, of trying to hold ideas in physical form.
